Instant access to sleep, around the world
Sleeping is one of the most essential biological needs for any human being. In modern societies, with the fast pace of city life and the long haul travelling, sleeping time and space has turned from a need to a luxury, even though modern society seems to neglect its vital importance. Moreover, the extreme conditions and the graduating pressure that people have to sustain reduce significantly the time and quality of sleeping and resting.
Plug Inn derives from the urge to discover a new approach of sleeping/resting suited to the cultural, economic and social circumstances of the evolving urban context. Taking into consideration the contemporary sleeper, the main idea of our proposal is based on the instant access of sleeping. It’s not a typical hotel; it’s a reinterpretation of the hotel concept and relies on the need to sleep or rest anytime of the day.
The check-in is fast and simple, there is no reception or room service. Everything can be arranged through a mobile application. The plug inns can be attached to any built structure. Thus, they are extensions of the already built environment. Furthermore, their vertical alignment minimizes their imprint on the ground, which is already over-inhabited and over-exploited.
